Welcome to the City of Carnation Online Permit Center! All aspects of the permit process can now be completed online.
The general public can see permit statuses, inspection requests, and reference materials. Registered users can apply for permits and request inspections online.

Online Services
How to get started
To begin the permit process, create a profile by clicking the “Sign Up” button and follow the instructions. Please refer to the Permit Portal Help website to view step-by-step instructions to navigate the online portal.
Prior to submitting your permit, check out the Planning & Permits webpage to ensure you have all the required components of your project. Any incomplete applications will be valid for 21 days for editing.
Note: The online dashboard can be translated into your preferred language. View the "Select Language" drop down to translate the dashboard into the language of your choice.
Payment and Processing
Permits are reviewed in order received. In most cases, permits will not be reviewed until payment is made in full. Payment may be made by a credit card through the Online Permit Center or by check. Permits are not valid until approved, paid, and issued.
Inspection Request Scheduling
All inspections are scheduled through the online portal. Please note the cutoff time for next-day inspection requests is 3:00 PM. Most inspections are conducted between the hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Business Licensing
City of Carnation business licenses are handled through the Washington State Department of Revenue. Specialty licenses have additional requirements and are issued through the City of Carnation.
Special Event Permits
Apply for a Special Event permit though the Online Permit Center by selecting the “Special Event Permit” in the drop-down menu.
Electrical Work
All electrical permits and inspections are conducted through Washington State Department of Labor and Industries (L&I). Please click the link below for more information:
